A Word From Grace- Sarah's Daughter

My mother passed away in September 2003. As her years as a mother were spent hidden away from the world lost in her mental illness, I grew up knowing very little about her life story.

I asked my dad to tell me as much as he could about mum and I compiled raw notes.
I didn’t want an autobiography written because I wanted the reader to relive the story through the characters. To feel the highs and lows of the emotional roller coaster ride of my mother’s and my early life and provide a glimpse of life’s challenges for women back in the 50s and 60s.

A few years later I asked Kate-Lyn to compile these notes into a novel for me. This last week I read the finished novel for the first time. I was amazed by Kate-Lyn’s ability at 21 years of age to weave the facts into the characters and setting and bring them to exciting life has revealed in her a rewarding natural talent. With the feedback from those who have read the book, my goal has been achieved.

Although my mum’s life wilted away and seemed at the time a meaningless, waste of a talented life, the completion of this book has helped me now at to bring closure to my challenging upbringing. I now see my mum as a real person. She was in full bloom as a young adult until mental illness caused her life to wilt away.

My life has been a reversal of the picture on the front of the book. Since my mother’s death I have come back to life through the nourishment of self-development techniques. I now live in full bloom with confidence, peace and genuine happiness.

From the classic movie ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ the words of one of the songs says
“From ashes grow roses of success.”

As I tell my two beautiful daughters “When you are gifted with good health physically and mentally it is your responsibility to live everyday developing the talents and gifts you have been given and to share them and your passion for life with others to enjoy.”

Grace.
