1950s Sarah walked a few houses to the general store where she bought non
perishable items. Fruit and fresh bread were delivered to the houses by the green grocer and baker.

1930s Jack remembers having milk delivered to his parents house in Wilston Brisbane. 1960s milk was delivered to homes in 1 pint glass bottles. Empty bottles were left at the front door for the milk man to replace with full bottles early in the morning.

Once a woman was married she had to leave and could not return to work at RBH. A married nurse could get work through an home nursing agency.

This is the style of land line phone in Sarah and Jack's home. 1960s life before mobile phone and home computers.
Like most women 1960s Sarah didn't have her drivers license. She relied on public transport. Buses replaced trams in 1968.
